ORANGE, Ohio — Domestic violence, obstructing justice, felonious assault (family/strong-arm), kidnapping; Brainard Road: After 911 dispatchers received a call from a crying woman that was disconnected around 10 a.m. on Feb. 11, the call was tracked to a Brainard residence where police heard and saw occupants inside who ignored their repeated knocks.
Eventually, they were met by a man, 24, who said that only his brothers were home at the time, initially refusing to let them in the house. He was charged with obstructing justice, a fifth-degree felony, after police noticed blood inside on a broken pink iPad on the floor.
Another brother, 27, was hiding in a bedroom and refused to open the door until police forced it open, finding him along with a woman, 23, bleeding from the head.
She said he had broken her iPad while he was using it to hit her in the face and head. In his jacket pocket, police found her phone, which she said he’d grabbed when she called 911.
The two have a three-year-old child together, and the mother was taken to Ahuja Medical Center and given information on filing a Temporary Protection Order. Her boyfriend, who has a prior domestic violence conviction in 2014, now faces at least three felonies.
Grand theft from building, Orangedale Road: An electrical contractor reported Feb. 14 that he left a box of tools and equipment, valued at over $1,900, sitting by a garage door in the 4300 block of Orangedale about 11:30 a.m. while he ran to Lowe’s to get additional items. When the Sagamore Hills man returned 30 minutes later, the box was gone, with no evidence left at the scene.
Warrant served, East 222nd Street: Police caught up with a transgender man, 27, who escaped arrest last April by jumping out of a third-story hotel window in a prostitution sting operation.
He is a resident of Euclid, where police picked him up and held him on the active warrant on or about Feb. 13. He was transferred to the Beachwood Jail.
Departmental information, disturbance, unwanted guest; Chagrin Boulevard: The human resources manager at Beechmont Country Club reported Feb. 8 that one of his employees was being harassed by her ex-boyfriend, who also has a domestic violence protection order filed against him.
The manager reported that on the day before, the suspect, a Cleveland man, 43, arrived at the bus stop and made contact with the woman. Management stated he was not welcome on the property.
