CLEVELAND, Ohio – The most bizarre episode during the first half of Season 7 had to be Tara’s introduction to the Oceanside community of women.
The episode featured the disappearance of Heath and revelation that Negan’s reign of terror extends further than we thought. The Saviors wiped out all of Oceanside’s men, leaving the community in seclusion from the rest of the world.
The episode, titled “Swear,” concludes with Tara promising Cyndie she won’t reveal the existence of the community to anyone. Tara seems willing to keep the promise when she refuses to tell Rosita where she’s actually been.
But odds are we haven’t seen the last of Oceanside, a community mentioned in Robert Kirkman’s comic book but yet to be seen.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, “The Walking Dead” showrunner Scott M. Gimple vaguely suggests an eventual return to Oceanside.
“There’s definitely unfinished business there,” Gimple says. “And the information that Oceanside — and what it possesses — would be a very big deal to Rick.”
Gimple is alluding to the solid supply of weapons the community has, which would be extremely valuable given the show is headed towards an all out war.
We’ve already seen from trailers that Rick’s plan is to unite as many communities as he can against the Saviors. But the group will also need weapons, which could lead Tara to reveal the Oceanside’s whereabouts in Season 7.
