Fill in an online application, pay five euros and n determine future of Germany? This seems to be an idea for which many people are currently able to heat up. Since SPD party Congress has pronounced itself for negotiations on a large coalition on Sunday, SPD is in any case experiencing an unexpected inflow. In Bavaria alone, SPD registered 218 online tickets in past few days, in Berlin it was 170, North Rhine-Westphalia recorded 1,200. There are also applications in paper form.

if ( typeof AdController !== ‘undefined’ !window.Zeit.isMobileView()) { if ( !document.getElementById( ‘iqadtile8’ ) ) { var elem = document.createElement( ‘div’ ); elem.id = ‘iqadtile8’; elem.className = “ad ad-desktop ad-desktop–8 ad-desktop–8-on-article”; elem.setAttribute(‘data-banner-type’, ‘desktop’); elem.setAttribute(‘data-banner-label’, ‘Anzeige’); document.getElementById(‘ad-desktop-8’).parentNode.appendChild(elem); AdController.render(‘iqadtile8’); if ( window.console typeof window.console.info === ‘function’ ) { window.console.info(‘AdController ‘ AdController.VERSION ‘ tile 8 desktop’) } } } if ( typeof AdController !== ‘undefined’ window.Zeit.isMobileView()) { if ( !document.getElementById( ‘iqadtile3’ ) ) { var elem = document.createElement( ‘div’ ); elem.id = ‘iqadtile3’; elem.className = “ad ad-mobile ad-mobile–3 ad-mobile–3-on-article”; elem.setAttribute(‘data-banner-type’, ‘mobile’); document.getElementById(‘ad-mobile-3’).parentNode.appendChild(elem); AdController.render(‘iqadtile3’); if ( window.console typeof window.console.info === ‘function’ ) { window.console.info(‘AdController ‘ AdController.VERSION ‘ tile 3 mobile’) } } }

The sudden inflow should be mainly related to appeal of SPD youth organization Jusos. She advertises with slogan “Enter, say no” for joining SPD to vote against a new edition of Grand coalition.

At party congress, Juso boss Kevin Kühnert had once again clamored: “Get up! Come to this party! Make m your party. The change we want to be, we have to enforce ourselves. ” The Jusos in North Rhine-Westphalia, with slogan “A ten against Groko” n put anor one on it. Ten euros – that’s Mindestmitgliedsbeitrag for two months. Indirectly, refore, y advertised to be able to enter party only in short term, and main thing is to vote against an alliance with union in membership survey, which is to be carried out after coalition negotiations.

“Renewal takes Time”

Juso boss Kühnert has now distanced himself from this. He did not think of any newcomers who would only enter SPD in order to prevent a grand coalition in member’s decision, he said to Rheinische Post.  “We want to promote newcomers who enter SPD out of conviction because y share our core values.” The Jusos would promote long-term commitment, “because renewal of SPD will take time and would not be done with rejection of grand coalition.”

if ( typeof AdController !== ‘undefined’ !window.Zeit.isMobileView()) { if ( !document.getElementById( ‘iqadtile4’ ) ) { var elem = document.createElement( ‘div’ ); elem.id = ‘iqadtile4’; elem.className = “ad ad-desktop ad-desktop–4 ad-desktop–4-on-article”; elem.setAttribute(‘data-banner-type’, ‘desktop’); elem.setAttribute(‘data-banner-label’, ‘Anzeige’); document.getElementById(‘ad-desktop-4’).parentNode.appendChild(elem); AdController.render(‘iqadtile4’); if ( window.console typeof window.console.info === ‘function’ ) { window.console.info(‘AdController ‘ AdController.VERSION ‘ tile 4 desktop’) } } } if ( typeof AdController !== ‘undefined’ window.Zeit.isMobileView()) { if ( !document.getElementById( ‘iqadtile4’ ) ) { var elem = document.createElement( ‘div’ ); elem.id = ‘iqadtile4’; elem.className = “ad ad-mobile ad-mobile–4 ad-mobile–4-on-article”; elem.setAttribute(‘data-banner-type’, ‘mobile’); document.getElementById(‘ad-mobile-4’).parentNode.appendChild(elem); AdController.render(‘iqadtile4’); if ( window.console typeof window.console.info === ‘function’ ) { window.console.info(‘AdController ‘ AdController.VERSION ‘ tile 4 mobile’) } } }

In Willy-Brandt-Haus in Berlin again, one tries to counteract impression that one meets members with mistrust. Finally, SPD wants to be a party. Every entry is welcome, it says re. Moreover, it is assumed that most people would not only stand up for election.

Who can vote?

In principle, entry into SPD is an uncomplicated affair. You just have to fill in an online application and transfer monthly fee of five euros. But until you are actually a member, it can take a few weeks. Each application must be accepted by competent local association.

This is not only reason why it is unclear wher members who are now entering may actually decide on grand coalition. Next Monday, SPD party board will also decide on deadline until which one must become a member in order to participate in membership decision on grand coalition.

Although statute of SPD does not contain a time limit, novice would prohibit participation in votes for a certain period of time. Neverless, a key date is necessary for logistical reasons. Finally, voting documents must be printed and sent. Interested parties who only enter immediately before decision will not be able to be considered.

Older people also enter

As yet, it is completely unforeseeable how many of members have intention to vote against grand coalition. In any case, online applications received are not only from Jusos: according to first assessments of Bavarian National Association, both young and old people entered party. The SPD associations in Berlin and NRW also confirm applications from all age groups.

The political scientist Oskar Demayer considers possibilities of politics to be limited anyway: “The number of newmembers will not dramatically affect majority relationship with regard to grand coalition. They only make up a small part of overall votes, but it will not be decisive for a large party like SPD, “he says.

He also suspects that re will soon be less re-entry: “Those who only stand up for election would have done so long ago in first few days. I do not believe that this will continue until vote of members. “
