The Marin County Coroner’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a man found dead on Highway 101 in Novato after an apparent hit-and-run crash early Thursday.

The victim is described as 5-foot-10-inch white man in his mid 50s with hazel eyes and gray salt and pepper-colored hair that is long in the back. The man was found wearing a maroon long-sleeved Hanes Beefy T-shirt; brown carpenter/painter-style pants; a brown leather belt and black slip-on loafer-style shoes.

Emergency responders found the man near the highway on-ramp at Atherton Avenue at 1:05 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Anyone who recognizes the man was asked to contact the Coroner Division at the Marin County Sheriff’s Office at 415-473-6043 or email coroner@marinsheriff.org.
