A man who died in a street-racing accident that ejected his passenger Monday night on the West Side was identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner.
Jose Del Carmen Ramirez Jr., 24, was found dead in the driver’s seat when officers arrived at about 8:30 p.m. just feet away from the intersection of West Military and Timbercreek Drive, officials said.
A San Antonio Police Department sergeant at the scene said Ramirez was driving northbound on West Military Drive when the vehicle spun out of control and knocked over a utility pole, separating it from the base.
Ramirez’s passenger was ejected from the vehicle, police said. He was taken to University Hospital in critical condition. An update on his condition was not available Thursday night.
Police said they were looking for a white BMW that witnesses told them was racing against Ramirez. The vehicle had not been found as of Thursday.
