The Hunterdon County YMCA recently appointed five people as officers of the board of trustees. They are: Chair Bart Fellin, First Vice Chair Andy Cedarbaum, Second Vice Chair Greg Visicaro, Board Secretary Jessica Palmer and Treasurer Tom LaMarca.

Two new members, Dinesh Karnani and Jorge Rosas, were also welcomed.

Karnani and Rosas join current board members Steve Brown, Sara Gibbons, Steve Heller, Joe Hudicka, Andy Indeck, Ana Kaplun, John King, Justin Lax, Paul Norian, Ken Sanchez, Alex Van Veldhuisen, Paul Weil and Richard Willke, according to a news release.

“The YMCA is thankful to have such dedicated Hunterdon County residents on the board of trustees,” said Bruce Black, president and chief executive officer. “The strength of any YMCA can be found in its volunteer leadership.

“We are indeed fortunate to have our current board members, as well as the new board members to lead the Y in its commitment to strengthen our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.”

Dinesh Karnani is an executive in the banking industry with over 21 years of experience and currently works for Deloitte as a leader in Enterprise Risk Management and Regulatory Reporting.

He previously served as a board of director at the Metuchen-Edison-Woodbridge-South Amboy YMCA for five years. Dinesh said he believes in a balanced lifestyle and is a proponent of honesty, respect, caring and responsibility, core values of the YMCA.

He and his wife live in Readington with their two children, and their oldest child is a member of the HCY Stingrays Swim Team.

Jorge Rosas has spent his career with the Chubb Organization, and currently serves as the vice president of Metrics and Quality Manager for Chubb Limited.

He has a bachelor of arts in business administration from the University of Geneva, Switzerland with a major in Finance and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Miami, with a specialization in management.

Hunterdon Y marks reopening of Round Valley branch

Jorge has a particular interest in Y programs in the areas of youth development and social responsibility. He has served on various professional and community organizations, including the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, American Society for Quality, HISPA and Hunterdon Hispanos. He and his wife live in Annandale and are the parents of two adult children.

In addition to providing health and fitness programs, the Y is also the largest provider of childcare in Hunterdon County. Additionally, the Y offers summer day camp, preschool, family programs, swim lessons, activities for seniors, teen programs, volunteer opportunities and more. The Y also offers scholarships to ensure these opportunities are available to everyone.

In 2016, over $500,000 in financial assistance was provided through the scholarship program. Recently, the Y started a program which offers free swim lessons to all Second Graders in Hunterdon County. In addition to offering LiveStrong at the Y for cancer survivors and their families, the Y offers One Step for MS, a wellness program for adults diagnosed with MS.
