It took until Thursday for the first big snowstorm to hit Hunterdon County, and the results were mixed. Some parts of the county received just 3 inches while those further north, particularly near Warren County, saw close to a foot of snow.

Schools across Hunterdon County were closed, the first time all closed for a snow day this school year.

Here’s a sampling of totals reported this morning:

  • Ringoes:   7.0 inches as of 10:07 a.m.
  • Whitehouse Station: 6.0 inches as of 10:27 a.m.
  • Clinton: 6.1 inches as of 8 a.m.
  • Readington: 5.1 inches as of 11:30 a.m.
  • Califon: 5.0 inches as of 8 a.m.

Here’s what the snowstorm looks like in each N.J. county

Snowfall totals have been highest in northwestern sections of the state, some communities in Warren counties getting between 7 and 9 inches.

As the snow heads north, cold weather and winds are moving in, making for a sharp contrast to Wednesday’s warm conditions.
