A motorcycle rider was hospitalized Sunday after colliding with a tree off West Third Street in Santa Rosa, emergency dispatchers said.
Witnesses said the rider appeared to be traveling around 20 mph about 12:15 p.m. when he hit a tree near Stony Point Road, dispatchers said. The extent of the injuries weren’t immediately available.
In a separate incident about an hour and a half later, another motorcyclist crashed in rural Bloomfield.
Motorists came upon the “demolished” bike at Roblar and Valley Ford roads just before 1:40 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol log.
Its engine was still warm, but no rider was found. Emergency responders searched the area but didn’t find the rider. Officials reported two major potholes in the area of the crash, both about 5 feet wide and 2 inches deep, according to the log.
