Former “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star Mama June Shannon was known as the overweight mother from Georgia, but after her split from husband Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson she changed her image. Not only did Shannon change her appearance, she let WEtv document it for the series “Mama June: From Not to Hot.”

To help her battle the bulge, she underwent gastric bypass surgery.  “This surgery is honestly probably the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life,” she said in a sneak peek clip, which was obtained by International Business Times Thursday. “I mean, I could die from it. I’m not one to let go of control easily, and I have no control over this situation once they put me to sleep.”

The reality star, who is a mother to Alana Thompson, Anna Shannon, Lauryn Shannon, Jessica Shannon, was comforted by her doctor. “I’ll take care of you. I’ll put you in your daughters’ hands right after this,” the surgeon said.

Even though Shannon, 37, made it out of surgery OK it wasn’t without complications. She started to bleed when her stomach was cut.

Afterward, Shannon was in pain. “Well, it is day one after the surgery, and I’m feeling every bit of the pain today,” she said. “I’m very, very sore — very agitated.”

Ultimately, the reality TV star was positive. “The hardest part is over,” Shannon said. “The surgery’s happened and I’m excited to go home and watch the fat come off of me. And in a couple of months now, I’m going to be sitting back, relaxing and dating hot men.”

Before the surgery, Shannon reportedly weighed 460 pounds. Since her weight loss journey, where she had the help of a trainer, she slimmed down to a size 4.

“Mama June: From Not To Hot” airs on Fridays at 10 p.m. EST on WEtv.
