PATERSON — A man wanted in the fatal shooting of a gas station attendant last month was caught in Pennsylvania Friday, cops said.

Alex Colon, 28, who is charged with murder in the Jan. 23 slaying of Ruslan Magamedov, was arrested in Pottsville, Pa., Friday afternoon, Paterson Police Captain Richard Reyes said in a press release.

The 57-year-old Fair Lawn man was shot at First Avenue Gas located at First Avenue near Route 20. He was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

During an investigation into the shooting, detectives and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office identified Colon as a person responsible for the slaying, Reyes said. Criminal charges for murder, robbery and weapons possession were issued for Colon who has been on the lam since the incident.

Paterson detectives had been in contact with the Pottsville Police Department because they believed Colon had fled to that area to avoid arrest.

Colon is currently being held at the Pottsville Police Department while he awaits extradition.

Dennis Barrett, of Paterson, and Jorge Martinez, of Garfield, both 21, were previously arrested and charged with murder in the shooting.
