NEWFIELD — A Gloucester County woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated after a motor-vehicle accident late Friday left an 11-year-old girl in the hospital, according to borough police.
It was just before 11:45 p.m. when Newfield police were dispatched to North West Boulevard at Sandy Drive for a report of a motor-vehicle crash. There, officers found that a 2016 Dodge minivan had apparently struck a utility pole.
The 11-year-old passenger was taken to Cooper University Hospital, in Camden, to be treated for “serious” injuries, police said early Saturday morning.

The minivan’s driver, 35-year-old Williamstown woman Mayra A. Guardado was arrested and charged with DWI, assault by auto and endangering the welfare of a child among “numerous” other motor vehicle offenses, police said. Guardado was processed and released on a court summons.
Newfield police were assisted by the Franklin Township Police Department, Newfield Fire Department, Malaga Fire Department and Gloucester County EMS.
