The Spartans topped Notre Dame, 40-30, in the Colonial League final on Friday night at Easton Area Middle School.
Turning point: Southern Lehigh didn’t light the world on fire offensively in the first half. The Spartans, however, held Notre Dame without a field goal in the second quarter and took a 19-7 lead into halftime thanks to a 6-0 run.
The Crusaders fell behind 30-13 on a pair of Olivia Snyder free throws with 7:19 remaining in the fourth quarter. Notre Dame then went on an 8-0 streak to cut the margin to 30-21 on a putback from Cailee Murphy with 3:45 on the clock.
Murphy hit a 3-pointer to cut the score to 35-28 with 1:14 remaining, but it didn’t get any closer.
Top performers: Southern Lehigh’s Amanda Mobley tallied a team-high 12 points while directing the ship for the Spartans.
Murphy finished with a game-high 15 points for Notre Dame (19-5).
What it means: Southern Lehigh (23-1) completed an unbeaten run through league competition, going 18-0 in the Colonial League regular season and 2-0 in the tournament.
It’s the program’s eighth Colonial League title, and second in a row.
