Delta is bringing back free meals for economy-class passengers on some of its long haul domestic flights, the airline announced.
The complimentary meal service will begin on a dozen flights, the press release said.
“The enhancement is part of Delta’s ongoing multi-million dollar investment in the on-board customer experience that includes upgraded Main Cabin snacks, enhanced blankets, refreshed Flight Fuel food-for-purchase options and free in-flight entertainment.,” the airline said.

The service has debuted on flights between New York and Los Angeles, and New York and San Francisco and will roll out to the following ten flights on March 1:
- Boston to San Francisco
- Boston to Seattle
- Boston to Los Angeles
- Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles
- New York JFK to Portland, Or.
- New York JFK to San Francisco
- New York JFK to Seattle
- Seattle to Fort Lauderdale
- Seattle to Orlando
- Seattle to Raleigh, N.C.

Delta said the move comes after it conducted tests and surveys last year. Different menu options will be available to passengers depending on the time of their flight, Delta said.
Airlines began cutting back on perks like free meals, blankets and checked luggage during the economic crisis.
United recently announced that it would compete with other low-cost carriers by offering a cheaper economy ticket, but would charge for carry-on luggage.
