Fountain Hill residents will likely be displaced, following a Friday afternoon kitchen fire in their home, according to the borough’s assistant fire chief.

The borough’s fire department was called at about 12:27 p.m. for a house fire at 843 Kieffer St., two blocks off Delaware Avenue, said Assistant Chief Tom Hart.

Crews arrived to smoke pouring out of the second floor windows of the row home, then discovered the blaze in the first-floor kitchen, in the back of the building, Hart said.

It took crews about 20 minutes to get the two-alarm blaze under control, according to Hart. There were no reported injuries.

The home at 843 Kieffer St. has fire and smoke damage, and there was slight smoke damage its neighbor at 841. Crews were using fans to ventilate the two homes, and opened the windows at 845 Kieffer St. as well to air it out.

Crews from UGI and PPL cut power to the homes.

Fountain Hill was assisted by crews Se-Wy-Co, Nancy Run, and Lower Saucon and South Whitehall townships.
