By now all of Bachelor Nation has heard the news: Rachel Lindsay has been cast as “The Bachelorette” in Season 13, which means it didn’t work out with her and current “Bachelor” star Nick Viall.
Rachel opened up about her Season 21 breakup in an interview with People just one day after announcing that she is the new “Bachelorette.” The Texan was both “heartbroken” and shocked by her split with Nick, telling the outlet she was certain the outcome of “The Bachelor” would be different. Still, Rachel is adamant that she wants “Nick to be happy,” and is hopeful that he found that with one of her former co-stars.
“I was definitely heartbroken over the situation,” she told People. “I didn’t expect it. I didn’t think it would end that way for me.”
While Rachel was shocked by her “Bachelor” breakup, she has taken the time to heal and is now focused on herself and what she wants from a relationship. She told People she got over it by getting back to work and spending time with those closest to her. Now, she’s ready to find a man on “The Bachelorette” and settle down and start a family.
“I’m really at the point where I’m ready for that and going through this season with Nick and being so close, made me realize how much I want it even more.”
Nick has also spoken out about Rachel being selected for “The Bachelorette,” telling Ellen DeGeneres he thinks she’ll be “amazing” for the franchise. He admitted that they had great chemistry, adding that it wasn’t easy to let her go on Season 21 of “The Bachelor.” Nick added that he was hopeful about Rachel’s journey as “The Bachelorette,” wishing her success.
“Rachel and I had an amazing amount of chemistry from the very first night. I’m excited for her. I think she’s going to be an amazing ‘Bachelorette,’’ Nick said.
While much of Bachelor Nation is thrilled to learn that Rachel was selected as “The Bachelorette,” especially amid fears that Corinne may be her competition, it was a shock to learn that things didn’t work out between she and Nick — especially after Season 21, episode 7 of “The Bachelor.” Ahead of hometown date week, Nick spent time with the remaining six women in Bimini. He and Rachel had another one-on-one, during which it appeared as though she was the front runner of the season.
Who will Nick end up with if not Rachel? Find out which “Bachelor” cast members are in the final four HERE and catch the next episode Monday at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
