Last week posters touting a white nationalist organization, Identity Evropa, showed up on the campus of Kutztown University, inviting people to join the group. Posters also were spotted at Penn State’s Berks campus, according to the Reading Eagle.

Some Kutztown students condemned the message and apparent recruiting effort by the group, which calls itself “an American-based identitarian organization dedicated to promoting the interests of People of European Heritage.”

The Kutztown administration didn’t take any direct action against the postings, but issued a statement.

“While we must keep in mind that all individuals have the right to free speech on our campus, our university rejects all forms of racism, bigotry and discrimination,” college officials said.

Was this the right approach? Should the university have taken a bolder position against the group and the posters — or refrained from any kind of value judgment? Have a say in our unscientific poll, and feel free to join the conversation in the comments section.
