An intersection on busy Maitland Boulevard has reopened amid work on the I-4 Ultimate Project, officials said.
Traffic changes had caused a headache for drivers traveling down Maitland Boulevard as crews worked to build safe construction zones for workers as part of the $2.3 billion I-4 Ultimate Project.
The intersection of Maitland Boulevard and Keller Road reopened Sunday, transportation department spokesman Steve Olson said.
As part of the reopening, Keller Road also has a new alignment, Olson said.
Transportation officials had asked contractors to prioritize the Maitland Boulevard area to relieve the congestion in the area.
Officials hope work in Maitland will be completed in 2018, but the I-4 makeover won’t be finished until 2021.
