About 50 athletes ran drills for pro scouts Saturday afternoon at an NFL regional combine at the Seattle Seahawks’ training facility, the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton.
Athletes who played in the 2016 college football season but have no NCAA eligibility left paid $160 each to participate. This was the first of six regional combines around the country for position players; kickers and punters have their own combine in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 26.
If this seems like “the impossible dream,” the NFL says that during Week 13 of the 2016 season, teams had a total of 76 players on their rosters who had emerged from regional combines in 2012 through 2016.
All 32 NFL teams share the combine testing results.
