If only John Lithgow was still on “The Crown,” then Season 2 would have a mini-“Dexter” reunion.
Michael C. Hall, who played a troubled serial killer with a conscience named Dexter Morgan in Showtime’s “Dexter” for eight seasons, has been cast in Netflix’s award-winning series, “The Crown” in Season 2, reports Deadline.
Hall will play the late President of the United States, John F. Kennedy. “Quarry” actress Jodi Balfour has also been cast as Kennedy’s wife Jackie. The power couple will be seen in the upcoming season in which the series explores Queen Elizabeth II’s (Claire Foy) reign during the swinging ‘60s.
Hall’s character is described as a charming and natural leader who feels most comfortable in a crowd. A talented public speaker, John F. Kennedy hates to share the spotlight with anybody else, especially his wife. As revenge, he flaunts his many infidelities in public. Behind closed doors, his jealousy transforms into anger and manipulation.

In contrast, Jackie Kennedy in “The Crown” is described as an asset to the President since she is a natural First Lady. But beneath her confidence and glamor is a woman who is extremely shy and hates being in the limelight.
Hall and Balfour won’t be the only actors joining the cast of Season 2. Handsome “Downton Abbey” actor Matthew Goode will be seen playing the role of Princess Margaret’s husband, Tony Armstrong-Jones. Described as a sexually liberal, passionate man and an avant-garde photographer, Margaret is attracted to Armstrong-Jones because his lifestyle and attitude sharply contrast with the Palace’s domineering and bureaucratic outlook.
Although Armstrong-Jones enjoys his lifestyle, he secretly craves the approval of his status-assessed mother.
“The Crown” won two SAG Awards for best actress and best actor. It also picked up a Golden Globe award for best drama series.
“The Crown” Season 1 is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
