Walking through my church lobby yesterday afternoon, I saw a Muslim woman, head covered, and accompanied by her small daughter. She was looking for the English as a second language program that we offer. We smiled and talked for a few minutes before I took her to the room she was looking for. The people who greeted her were warm and caring.

Unfortunately, every class that is offered has more than 20 people in it and she has to wait for the next opening.  The cartoon The Oregonian printed on Christian values made me heart-sick because, contrary to a common view, there are many Christians who don’t share this administration’s views on immigration.  Jesus said, “Come to me and I will give you rest.”  Many of us are actively seeking to provide rest, support and care for the broken and needy, no matter where they come from.
