On Monday, President Donald Trump declared on Twitter that any negative polls are “fake news.”

Any negative polls are fake news, just like the CNN, ABC, NBC polls in the election. Sorry, people want border security and extreme vetting.

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 6, 2017 It looks like the President has another “fake news” poll to contend with: In Gallup’s daily tracking poll on Monday, Trump received a 54 percent disapproval rating on his performance so far as president. The poll, which averages the results over the previous three days, gave him a 42 percent approval rating.

Compare that to Inauguration Day, when poll responders were evenly split on Trump’s performance at 45 percent each.

Gallup’s numbers are based on telephone calls to 1,500 adults across the nation. It has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
