Gord Downie returned to the stage last night at Massey Hall, in a surprise appearance joining Blue Rodeo on their 1992 hit “Lost Together.”
The Aug. 20 show by Downie’s band The Tragically Hip — thought to be the group’s probable farewell — in their hometown of Kingston was broadcast nationwide to an audience of 11 million.
Downie, who told fans earlier last year that he has an aggressive and deadly form of brain cancer, has made some public appearances since, with shows in October promoting Secret Path, his solo album (and graphic novel in collaboration with Jeff Lemire) and appearances at WE day soon afterward.
