EiDF Solar and Decathlon have signed an agreement for the execution of self-consumption projects. Thanks to this agreement, self-consumption projects will be carried out with the installation of more than 1 MW of power in different Decathlon centers throughout Spain.

EiDF Solar and Decathlon, the sports retail company, have signed an agreement for the construction of self-consumption projects for the generation of photovoltaic energy with the aim of increasing Decathlon’s self-consumption rate of energy. In an initial phase, the project will be will develop on 9 roofs of its centers in Spain. The total power to be installed exceeds 1 MW, and it will generate more than 1,327,746 kWh of renewable solar energy, the equivalent of 4,048.1 tons of CO2 that it will stop emitting into the atmosphere. With this sustainability and energy efficiency strategy, Decathlon will be able to cover around 33% of its current annual consumption in each center. In addition, in the coming months, these contracted projects will be joined by another 4 centers, currently in the modification phase. It should be noted that the implementation of these facilities not only means a reduction in costs for the company, but also a commitment to responsible growth with the environment. Yolanda Lara, Real Estate Director of Decathlon Spain, has pointed out that: “the signing of this agreement is another step in the development of the company’s strategic real estate sustainability plan. For years we have been focusing our efforts on reducing the CO2 emissions in this area, promoting multiple actions such as the renovation of roofs with improvements in thermal insulation, the installation of new high-efficiency and monitored air conditioning machines, LED lighting systems with intelligent light self-regulation, the implementation of several plants or the placement of chargers for electric vehicles in the centers”. “These new agreements for the installation of new photovoltaic plants will allow accelerating the strategy of production and self-consumption of sustainable energy, thus contributing to the reduction of the carbon footprint of centers”, has been completed.About EiDF EiDF Solar is an integrated renewable energy group with three business areas: self-consumption, generation and commercialization.
