The French green their electricity supply. They are today almost two million who make the choice to supply electricity of renewable origin (wind, solar). In its last report on the subject, published ten days of the Commission of energy regulation (CRE) noted a “significant breakthrough” for those offers green, subscribed to by 1.5 million consumers by the end of 2017. Of course, compared to the thirty million homes are supplied with electricity, the green still represents only a small part but today it is much more than a tiny minority.

What is it that explains the craze for these offers renewable? Of course, the environmental dimension is taken into account. For a growing number of homes, the fight against global warming is much more than a concept of geopolitics, and it is to participate in practice. But the economic aspect also contributes largely to the growth of tender green: for a growing number of new suppliers, rivals EDF, the offer a 100% green is a key differentiator. Especially as these offers are also very competitive, often between 5 and 10% less expensive than the regulated tariffs offered by EDF.

EDF does not idle

also, for some providers, the green offer represents a real trademark. That is not to say that the historical operator remains idle. He has even launched its offer Green Electricity, which is part of the basics right.

In its communication, the CRE is careful to explain that most of the bids green are certified by guarantees of origin. Concretely, as the electron does not have to source separate, the consumer who has subscribed to a green offer does not directly receive the electricity produced by a plant is renewable. On the other hand, the suppliers undertake, via the certificate, to inject into the network the volumes of green electricity corresponding to the needs of their customers subscribers.
