ATLANTIC CITY —  For motorcycle enthusiasts, the Easyriders Bike Show Tour is a opportunity to escape the cold winter days and return to the biker lifestyle they love, if only for a few hours.

The show rolled into the Atlantic City Convention Center Saturday on the fourth stop of a five-city tour.

“There is a huge demographic of bikers within 100 miles of here,” said Dave Nichols, editor of Easyriders Magazine. “That’s one of the reasons we came to Atlantic City.”

The one-day show featured some of the most respected and innovative motorcycle builders in the industry. While guests had a chance to shop some of the top vendors and listen to live music, it was the custom motorcycles — more than 100 on display — that were the main attraction.

George Stinsman, owner of Chaos Cycle in Long Island, was one of many builders competing for a chance to take home a trophy.

When building a bike, he said he has a couple of basic rules — everything on the motorcycle has to serve a purpose and the only theme a motorcycle should have is a motorcycle theme.

“You want a motorcycle that looks like a fire engine, I won’t do it,” said Stinsman. “It should look like a motorcycle.”

A 2016 bike he built went on to place first in the Street Custom category.

The Best of Show prize went to a 1981 Harley-Davidson Digger built by Evan Favaro, of Speakeasy Motors in Wallkill, N.Y. He also took the Editor’s Choice award for a 1981 Yamaha XS650.

The last stop on the tour will be Feb. 11 to 12 in Columbus, Ohio.
