EAST RUTHERFORD — The most massive heavy metal band of the last 30 years will play New Jersey’s largest venue this Spring.
Genre legends Metallica announced Monday morning a new Worldwired stadium tour, the band’s first full U.S. tour since 2009, which includes a stop at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford May 14. The tour also hits Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia May 12.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. on Ticketmaster.
Avenged Sevenfold, another California metal act with an enormous, arena-filling following, will open, as well as Danish metalheads Volbeat.
The tour comes in support of the Metallica’s well-received fall LP “Hardwired … To Self-Destruct.”
The band performed an album single “Moth to Flame” at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards Sunday night with pop star Lady Gaga, but a non-functional microphone befell the song.
