Sports Illustrated is cutting its frequency by seven issues in 2017, to 38 from 45. The cut in frequency will shave mailing and production costs.
“We have adjusted the frequency to create more double issues around the times of the year when sports are the most popular,” a spokesman said, pointing to Super Bowl and NFL Preview issues as examples.
The company also announced this week that it is teaming up with Jerry Bruckheimer’s TV company, JBTV, to produce a series, “Sports Illustrated True Crime.”
The multipart documentary series on athletes who run afoul of the law is going to the market now to search for a network to pick up the show.
