VALENTINE’S PLUNGE IN MANASQUAN: Throw on your favorite pair of swim trunks and run into the freezing cold Atlantic Ocean for a good cause Saturday. The annual Valentine Plunge, which is celebrating its 11th anniversary, raises money for the staytough.fightHARD organization. This grassroots ALS charity organization helps educate the public about the effects of ALS, generates revenue to help fund research, and assist those dealing with ALS, and their families. To plunge, you need to reach $100 in funds raised. There are prizes for those who raise $100, and up. Plungers are encouraged to drop off their money and registration forms to Leggett’s bar located on First Avenue. The plunge will take place around noon on Saturday at the end of Main Street. A COMEDY OF TENORS PREMIERES AT PAPER MILL: We often hear about famed, blockbuster films receiving sequels — but how about a sequel to a Broadway musical? Now through Feb. 26, The Paper Mill Playhouse presents Ken Ludwig’s “A Comedy of Tenors” — the sequel to his famed musical, “Lend Me a Tenor.” The musical sees producer Henry Saunders, the protagonist from “Lend a Tenor,” in the middle of another chaotic, humor-and-song filled fiasco, this time in 1930s Paris. This production will see Michael Kostroff of “The Wire” in the role of Saunders. The Paper Mill will present a “Conversation Club” an information session about the production. This happens every Thursday, one hour before the show. On February 25 (the night before closing), there will be a question and answer session with the cast and crew. $36-$115. SUDS UP! THE GREAT BEER EXPO RETURNS TO SECAUCUS: The sixth annual Great Beer Expo will help you “pre-game the big game” this Saturday by providing access to more than 150 beers from 70-plus breweries. The Meadowlands Expo Center in Secaucus will turn into a massive bar as beer lovers will be able to sip on Garden State brews including Beach Haus, Jersey Girl, Demented, Rinn Duin, and Forgotten Boardwalk. If you’re a regular beer fest attendee, you’ll notice some breweries that are unique to the Great Beer Expo including Firestone Walker, Smuttynose, Clown Shoes, and Manayunk. BADFISH’S RESCHEDULED STARLAND SHOW: After being snowed out in early January, Badfish will be performing at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville on Saturday. The famed tribute band will be bringing their “Slowride Tour 2017” to the Garden State with new opening bands (they’re different from the original show), as well as their iconic covers of the music of Sublime.
