VINELAND — A paint store employee thwarted a robbery by shoving away a robber demanding money from the cash register, police said.

The robbery occurred Tuesday at Sherwin Williams on Landis Avenue. The robber went into the store and asked the employee whether there were any other employees around.

The robber proceeded to push the employee against the counter and ask for money from the register. While asking for the cash register to be emptied, the robber had his hand under his shirt like he had a weapon.
