Pittsburgh police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting in the city's Carrick neighborhood early Sunday.
Police officers on patrol heard a gunshot at 3:09 a.m. and shortly afterward received information that a man had been shot on Cooperfield Ave., according to Public Safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler.
The officers found Donald Ketter, Jr., 28, in the street; he was transported to UPMC Mercy, where he was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the chest at 4:21 a.m., according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.
Toler said according to the investigation, Ketter was walking along Copperfield when he got into a confrontation with a passenger in a ride share vehicle. After that, the passenger – identified as Derek Vasos, 37, of Carrick – made the driver flee the scene, she said.
A description of the vehicle was broadcast over the radio, and officers located the vehicle before it could get away, Toler said. s
Vasos has been arrested.
