The Pokémon Go Gen 2 update got a lot of trainers excited about the game again, but it also has the servers overwhelmed.

When the update was released Thursday with 87 new Pokémon and other features like new evolutions and updated avatar options players flooded the game to catch em all again. Players who hadn’t been using the game much were enticed into playing again by all the new features, but avid trainers who have been playing all along were soon to comment on how slow the servers were due to the congestion.

The site Down Detector showed that the bulk of the issues occurred for about an hour on Thursday with the biggest issue being even logging into the app.

Niantic posted from the Pokémon Go Twitter asking trainers for their patience with the matter.

Two hours later they tweeted again saying, “Thanks for your patience, Trainers! We’ve resolved the recent latency issues and will continue to monitor performance.”

But people were not pleased, many took to Twitter to complain.

While some users are still experiencing some lag times, the major server issues were resolved and Niantic says they are continuing to monitor the problems.
