WOODBRIDGE — Police have charged a Carteret man out on parole with a pair of armed robberies in town last month.
Darren Johnson Jr., 28, was arrested on Monday after an investigation into a Jan. 16 robbery at the BP Gas Station on Route 1 south and at the 7-11 on Amboy Avenue on Jan. 20, Capt. Roy Hoppock said in a release.
In both incidents, police said an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen and the robber was armed with a revolver, according to Hoppock. No one was injured in either incident.
Johnson was out on parole for robbery, Hoppock said.
No bail has been set for Johnson. He is being held in Middlesex County jail.
