All lanes of northbound Interstate 5 are closed in the Woodland area because of a mudslide, officials said.
A large pothole has also been reported on the southbound interstate near Woodland. Officials were at both scenes late Thursday afternoon.
The slide happened north of Dike Road, which is near Woodland, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. Officials don’t have any estimate as to when the freeway’s northbound lanes will reopen, the agency said.
The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office tweeted that the slide hit a single vehicle and that no one was injured. A Washington State Patrol spokesman tweeted that officials are diverting northbound traffic off the freeway at exit 22.
The pothole is in the southbound freeway’s righthand lane south of Todd Road, the transportation department tweeted. It’s six to seven feet deep, according Trooper Will Finn, a state patrol spokesman.
This report will be updated.
