Patten refers to consistent reports of survivors, according to which re has been group rape by many soldiers and forced nudity in public. In addition, many women were sexually enslaved in army captivity. According to UN, it is said that Myanmar border police and government-loyal militias are also involved in sexual violence. The rapes are crimes against humanity, said UN special envoy in Dhaka, capital of neighboring Bangladesh.

In Bengal district of Cox’s Bazar, more than 600,000 Rohingya of refuge were sought in last ten weeks alone. There are numerous survivors reporting rapes and mass rapes, said Patten. Many of women and girls affected were killed in aftermath of rape. According to United Nations, victims have “become target” because of ir ethnicity and religion. Sexual violence in wake of “collective persecution” is one of main reasons for mass exodus of Rohingya.
