TRENTON – A long-term financial dispute between two city men that resulted in one man’s death, ended in a 20-year prison sentence for the other man on Friday.
A Superior Court judge handed down the sentence to Tomarkus Whitfield, 38, Friday after the Trenton man pleaded guilty last year to first-degree aggravated manslaughter.

The plea deal and sentence were connected to the June 2014 shooting of 33-year-old Pinky Priester on the 300 block of Centre Street. Priester was found lying in the street with several gunshot wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to authorities.
Several witnesses have said they saw Whitfield shoot Priester 10 times that evening, according to Mercer County prosecutors.
The shooting followed a long dispute between the two men over a financial issue, prosecutors said.
The sentence calls for Whitfield to spend 19 years and six months in prison, but he will be eligible for parole after just 16 years and six months.
