WILDWOOD — Three people have been charged with kidnapping a woman and her 1-year-old child and holding them at two locations in a Jersey Shore beach town, authorities said. 

Jason Rue, 34, of Ewing, JennyVon Vasquez, 31 of Ewing, Jose Hernandez, 19, of Wildwood, were taken into custody Feb. 5 on kidnapping, burglary, endangering the welfare of a child and theft charges, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Police received a call Sunday from a woman saying she was being held against her will. When officers arrived, they learned the trio moved the woman and her 1-year-old child to a home on Leaming Avenue, prosecutors said.

The woman managed to escape with her child and was later found in the Hildreth and Pacific Avenue area by police, prosecutors said. Both were treated for injuries sustained during the incident.

Rue was also charged with weapons-related charges.

The trio was held at the Cape May County jail.
