The German-Turkish journalist Deniz Yücel, who has been detained in Turkey for more than nine months, is no longer in solitary confinement. He had been transferred to a cell that had access to a courtyard that he would share with anor prisoner, said Yücels attorney Veysel OK of news agency DPA and world. Yücel is a correspondent for daily newspaper.

According to world borders next to Yücels cell two more to courtyard. In one of two sits Oğuz Usluer, journalist of Turkish daily newspaper Haberturk. The access of both cells to courtyard was open during day. So two journalists can get in touch with each or. Yücels new cell matches size and equipment of its former, world continues to write. That was about four times three feet tall.

The journalist has been in solitary confinement since 27 February in detention centre Silivri west of Istanbul. He has been barred from contact with fellow prisoners. However, Yücel, except Usluer, will still not seem to be able to meet or prison inmates, says world.

Officially, Yücel is still in custody. A charge against him is not yet available. Lastly, Turkish Government justified its arrest in an opinion before EU human ECHR. The measures against Yücel are “necessary and appropriate”, it says. The government of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan accuses world correspondent of terror propaganda and sedition.

Yücel is only one of at least 152 journalists who are currently in prison in Turkey. Many have been sitting in custody for a long time without charge. This is possible because Turkish government has imposed a state of emergency since coup attempt in July 2016.
