There is a lot of talks surrounding the cast of “Wonder Woman” these days, and the latest report is that David Thewlis will be playing the film’s villain, Ares.

Ares will be made using a mix of CGI and practical effects, according to Batman News, so Thewlis might be barely recognizable in the movie.

If Thewlis’ name sounds familiar, that could be because you have seen him in a famous franchise. Thewlis is known for playing Professor Remus Lupin in the “Harry Potter” series, and he also appeared in “The Theory of Everything,” “Regression” and “Legend.”

Earlier, rumor has it that Arnold Schwarzenegger might be playing Ares after director Patty Jenkins and co-writer Geoff Johns both followed the actor on Twitter. It may simply be coincidence, but it could also mean something else entirely, according to Comic Book, since fans were able to deduce earlier that Joe Manganiello had been cast as Deathstroke after several DC Films executives simultaneously followed him on Twitter.

But if Thewlis will be Ares, it’s possible that Schwarzenegger will play Zeus or will be part of the film’s end-credits scene and reprise his role as Mr. Freeze from “Batman & Robin”.

Gal Gadot will star in the film as the titular character, while Chris Pine will be leading man Steve Trevor. Robin Wright will be her aunt Antiope, Lisa Loven Kongsli as another aunt Menalippe and Connie Nielsen will play her mother, Hippolyta. Lucy Davis will play Wonder Woman’s best friend, Etta Candy.

Even though the movie has already received some bad reviews prior to its release date, producer Deborah Snyder said people should give the film a chance because it’s quite different from other DC movie offerings. “‘Wonder Woman’ is very different in tone and style than ‘Batman v Superman’ and ‘Suicide Squad,’” she told Variety. “We pick directors who have their own points of view, so that each of our films will have their own personality.”

“Wonder Woman” will be released on June 2, 2017. Gal Gadot will reprise her role as Diana Prince in the “Wonder Woman” standalone film directed by Patty Jenkins.
