Steve Sarkisian is expected to join the Atlanta Falcons as the team’s new offensive coordinator, according to several reports on Tuesday.
Sarkisian is leaving the Alabama Crimson Tide, where he has been offensive coordinator through their championship game loss to Clemson last month.
He’s familiar to Pac 12 fans. As head coach of the Washington Huskies, he 34-29 in five seasons. He moved on to take over at USC, where he was fired in 2013 due to alcohol related incidents.
Sarkisian, 42, will help the Falcons maintain their prolific West Coast offense, which they ran under previous OC Kyle Shanahan, who left Atlanta to become head coach with the San Francisco 49ers.
Atlanta’s offense led the NFL in scoring last season. The Falcons are coming off a 34-28 loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl Ll.
