West Linn boys basketball coach Tyler Toney says he plans to coach Tuesday’s home game against Lakeridge, two weeks after suffering a stroke.
Toney wrote in a text that he will run practice Sunday and Monday, and coach the No. 2 Lions in their regular-season home finale after missing the past four games.
Toney spent six days in the hospital following a stroke on Jan. 31, though he coached that night in West Linn’s 98-48 win over Tigard. Toney was released from the hospital last Monday, and attended the Lions’ three games – all wins – this past week.
Toney is in his first year at West Linn’s coach after Eric Viuhkola resigned last spring. Toney was an assistant coach under Viuhkola when the Lions won the past four Class 6A state titles.
West Linn (16-4) clinched the Three Rivers League title Friday night with a 78-62 win over Tualatin.
