London Cares Food Drive Exceeds Donation Goals

The annual London Cares Curb Hunger food drive in London has once again exceeded expectations, bringing in a total of 87,800 lbs. of food over an 11-day period. This year’s donations surpassed the previous year’s total of 86,880 lbs., with Mayor Josh Morgan expressing gratitude towards the generous contributions of Londoners.

Of the total food donations, 17,030 lbs. were dropped off at various locations such as local grocery stores, fire halls, and the London Food Bank’s warehouse. Corporate donations accounted for 24,625 lbs., while the Community Refresh program contributed 25,625 lbs. Additionally, financial donations amounted to 20,520 lbs. in food equivalent.

The Food Bank Co-Executive Director, Glen Pearson, emphasized the importance of ongoing support for the London Food Bank, especially during the summer months when donations tend to decrease. The food drive plays a crucial role in providing nutritious food to over 29,000 individuals and families in need within the community.

Overall, the success of the London Cares Curb Hunger food drive highlights the compassion and generosity of Londoners towards supporting their fellow residents during challenging times. The continued efforts and donations towards the food bank contribute significantly to ensuring access to essential food resources throughout the year.
