A woman was found dead in a residence late Saturday and Wheaton police are actively searching for a person of interest in connection with her homicide.

Authorities would not say how the woman was killed, but after responding to a call in the 1300 block of Woodcutter Lane before 10 p.m. they determined the manner of death was homicide, according to Deputy Chief Bill Murphy of the Wheaton Police Department.

Officials called upon the DuPage County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Task Force to assist them in the investigation. Murphy said officials identified a person of interest in the woman’s death.

Authorities are actively searching for the man, who hadn’t been apprehended as of Sunday afternoon.

“I wish,” Murphy said.

The woman is believed to have lived in one of four units in an apartment complex, officials said.

Police continue to search for the man and more information is expected Sunday, Murphy said.
