[updated September 30, 2020 17: 20] In the absence of Julian Alaphilippe, double taking the title and that he had decided to skip today after having won the title of champion of the world last Sunday, it was the Swiss Marc Hirschi who gave the victory, today in the Flèche Wallonne 2020, ahead of the French Benoit Cosnefroy and the Canadian Michael Woods at the summit of the Mur de Huy. Before the final climb, the race was first animated by a breakaway of four riders consisting of Mauri Vansevenant (Deceuninck-Quick-Step), Aaron Van Poucke (Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise), Mathijs Paasschens (WB Bingoal) and Marlon Gaillard (Total Direct Energy) and counted up to 9 minutes ahead, before the teams Ineos-Grenadiers, UAE and Sunweb do decide to give a boost to the front of the peloton. The last survivor of the group head, Mauri Vansevenant, was then taken up less than two kilometres from the finish. In the end, Pogacar and Woods have well-tried their luck, but Hirschi was definitely the strongest today.
