A blue-tinged meteor streaked across the night sky in Illinois Monday — and the stunning moment was all caught on a police dash cam.
The video shows the bright fireball shooting down from the sky around 1:25 a.m. in Lisle, Illinois, about 25 miles west of Chicago.
“Check out this INCREDIBLE video of the #meteor this morning as viewed from a Lisle, IL police car dash cam! Thanks to Lisle PD for sharing!” the Chicago National Weather Service tweeted Monday morning.
The NWS tweeted out another video of the meteor flashing across the sky in Plover, Wisconsin.
The American Meteor Society said it’s received more than 185 reports of the fireball sighting in seven other states and Canada.
“The green fireball was seen primarily from Illinois and Wisconsin but witnesses from Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, New York, Kentucky, Minnesota and Ontario (Canada) also reported the event,” the society said.
