PARMA, Ohio – Parents and guardians of kindergarten aged children can get information about day care as well as register for kindergarten in the Parma City School District March 8 and 9.
The Parma City School District will hold its annual Kindergarten Registration event on those days at the Powers Boulevard branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library.
The event will run both days from 7:30 a.m. to Noon and then 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Besides the registration and short health screening, the event will also provide information about kindergarten readiness, day care and other programs offered throughout the district and in the three communities served by the district.
Children must be five years old by Sept. 30 to be eligible to register.
Parents and guardians of students must bring the following materials to the event in order to properly register their child: birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency.
If there is a divorce, the parent must provide certified divorce papers, showing that they are the residential/custodial parent. If there was never a marriage, the mother is the one who has to register the child.
The parent must also provide a photo I.D. of themselves.

Kindergarten STEM Open House
Parents and guardians of kindergarten aged children can learn more about the STEM program housed at Pleasant Valley Elementary School at 6 p.m. March 7 in the school cafeteria.
You’ll be able to talk with staff and visit classrooms to learn more about problem-based learning, and if it is a strategy that meets your child’s needs. The open house is for families with students enrolling in kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year.
All kindergarten students registered during the March Kindergarten Registration Event will be assigned random numbers. The numbers will be organized in ascending order by home school attendance area.
Student names will be pulled from each attendance zone in order to achieve proportional representation from each building within the incoming kindergarten STEM class. Families selected in the STEM lottery will be notified immediately following the lottery and will have seven days to confirm the spot in the kindergarten STEM classroom for next year.
If the family does not confirm the spot within seven days, the spot will be offered to the next student on the lottery list.
To ensure your incoming kindergarten student is entered in the STEM lottery process, you must register your child at the PCSD Kindergarten Registration Event.
If you have questions about the STEM kindergarten lottery process, call the Student Services Department at 440-885-8794 or visit parmacityschools.org/STEM
