Carrying a concealed weapon, Aurora Road: At 8:30 p.m. Feb. 12, police stopped a car that had on it an expired temporary tag. Police smelled the odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle. Police checked the car and found marijuana inside.
The car’s driver, a Cleveland woman, 30, was issued written warnings and released.
The passenger, a Cleveland man, 27, was found to have a handgun tucked in his waistband and was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
At the Solon jail, cocaine was found on the man’s person. The man, whose record includes charges of aggravated robbery and domestic violence, was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance and having weapons under disability.
Theft, Aurora Road: At 2:35 p.m. Feb. 8, the owner of Upscale It, 33533 Aurora Road, noticed that a fur hat was missing from the store and that it hadn’t been sold. Police checked the store’s surveillance video and witnessed a woman stealing the hat and jewelry.
The hat’s value is $299, and the jewelry’s, $250. Police are investigating.
Domestic violence, Enterprise Parkway: At 11:55 a.m. Feb. 9, police were called to the Homewood Suites hotel, 6085 Enterprise Parkway, where a male threatened to harm his sister. As police arrived, the brother, 21, of North Olmsted, was seen leaving the hotel. The man told police that he went to the hotel to confront his sister, 19, about something she had posted on social media.
It was determined that the man had threatened his sister. He was arrested and charged with domestic violence. In addition, the man was found to be wanted on an Oakwood police warrant.
Drug trafficking, Hamilton Court: At 2:20 p.m. Feb. 11, police were called about a male posing as a CEI employee and asking residents about their utility bills. Officers found a truck parked on the street occupied by three people. Police smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
A search of the truck uncovered 62.3 grams of marijuana, as well as Adderall, Lorazepam, and an unknown white substance in a folded piece of paper. Also found in the truck was drug paraphernalia, containers of alcohol and a knife.
Police arrested a 16-year-old Solon girl and referred her to the juvenile officer for consideration of charges of trafficking in marijuana, possessing amphetamines and underage possession of alcohol. The girl was turned over to her mother.
A 16-year-old Bainbridge boy was issued a summons for underage use of tobacco and released to his parents.
A Solon man, 18, was released.
Theft, Aurora Road: At 2:50 p.m. Feb. 11, an off-duty officer working security at Market District, 34310 Aurora Road, watched as a shoplifter concealed items worth $89 and attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise.
A Bainbridge man, 55, was cited for theft and issued a trespass warning.
Carrying a concealed weapon, Aurora Road: At midnight, Feb. 12, police were called to the Springhill Suites, 30100 Aurora Road, by someone who suspected drug use in a room. As police arrived those in the room were leaving.
An officer saw two males sitting in a parked car in the lot, with the car’s lights off. The car’s driver attempted to drive away as police approached. The car was stopped and it was found that the driver, a Cleveland man, 22, had a suspended license. Further, a loaded gun was found in the car’s glove box.
The driver was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
The passenger, a Cleveland man, 25, gave police false information and was found to be wanted on a Cleveland police warrant. He was charged with obstructing official business.
OVI, SR 91: At 3:30 a.m. Feb. 12, police stopped a car for speeding and not driving within marked lanes. It was then found that the driver, a Solon woman, 23, was drunk. The woman was found to have a blood-alcohol content of .143, above the state minimum for drunk driving of .08.
Police charged the woman with OVI, prohibited BAC, not wearing a seat belt, speeding, and failure to drive within marked lanes.
Theft, Park North Drive: At 11:05 a.m. Feb. 12, a resident of Park North Apartments, 6549 Park North Drive, reported that the catalytic converter was stolen from his wife’s car during the previous night.
While on the scene, police also learned that the catalytic converter was stolen from another car at the Park East Apartments, 34455 Park East Drive.
Both converters were valued at $200.
Missing person, SR 91: At 12:50 a.m. Feb. 13, an officer stopped a car whose owner was identified as an endangered missing person by Cleveland police. It was found that the driver was that person, a 75-year-old man. The man, who was confused, was evaluated by Solon Fire and Rescue and returned to his wife in Cleveland.
Theft, Aurora Road: At 4:35 p.m. Feb. 13, loss prevention at Market District watched a Mantua woman, 59, put items in her shopping cart and in a bag, then attempt to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. The woman was charged with theft and taken to the Solon jail.
Theft, Solon Road: At 4:15 p.m. Feb. 13, police were called to Regency Technologies, an electronic recycling business at 29001 Solon Road. Management had learned that three employees were stealing items from the business and placing them in their vehicles.
Arrested and charged with theft were Maple Heights men, 25 and 21, and a Northfield man, 30.
