Call my wife.
Prominent local surgeon Robert Ashton Jr. scribbled down the phone number of his recent ex, ABC News chief medical correspondent Jennifer Ashton, and a request to call her before jumping from the George Washington Bridge over the weekend, law-enforcement sources told The Post on Monday.
The phone number and instruction were written on a note found in Robert Ashton’s pocket after his death, sources said.
Robert Ashton, 52, a top thoracic and cardiac surgeon, had been divorced from Jennifer Ashton for two weeks.
Jennifer Ashton, who filed pieces for “Good Morning America” and “World News Tonight,” had said her ex suffered from depression.
“We know that many families struggle everyday with depression while others like us don’t have any warning,” she wrote on her Instagram page Sunday.
“We hope by sharing some of Rob’s story it will save others the heartache we feel. You are never alone.”
