JERSEY CITY — Who says that you can’t find compelling artwork in the garden state?
Jonathan LeVine Projects is bringing its “Welcome to New Jersey” – a multidisciplinary exhibition that highlights street art, pop surrealism, and hyper realism – to Jersey City’s Mana Contemporary art complex from Saturday, Feb. 18 through March 18.
It’s the gallery’s first show in it’s new digs and is intended as a preview of the internationally-based, multidisciplinary artists that the gallery will present in Jersey City though exhibitions, mural projects and special programs.
The large exhibit will feature work by: Adam Wallacavage, AJ Fosik, Alessandro Gallo, Alex Diamond, Andy Kehoe, Ashley Wood, Augustine Kofie, Beth Cavener, Camille Rose Garcia, Carlos Ramirez, Chloe Early, Cryptik, Dan Witz, Diego Gravinese, Dylan Egon, Eloy Morales, Erik Jones, Gary Taxali, and EVOL.
The showcase will also be shining a spotlight on pieces by: Handiedan, Haroshi, Hush, Jeff Soto, Jeremy Geddes, Jim Houser, Joel Rea, John Jacobsmeyer, Josh Agle a.ka. Shag, Kazuki Takamatsu, Mab Graves, Martin Wittfooth, Mary Iverson, Matt Leines, Matthew Grabelsky, Michael Reeder, Miss Van, Nychos, Phil Hale, Ron English, Shepard Fairey, Tara McPherson and Tristan Eaton.
“The selection of work curated by Jonathan [LeVine] represents an array of artists that were chosen based on their long-standing history of collaboration with us,” said Gallery Manager Danielle Link.
These artists also embody the type of work that will be presented at the gallery moving forward, Link added.
The roots of the Jonathan Levine Projects go as far back as 1995, when LeVine’s life-long participation in punk and underground music grew into an experiment with visual culture. In 2005, he opened Jonathan LeVine Gallery in the Chelsea district of New York City and had success helping the careers of many artists.
In early 2017, the gallery relocated to Jersey City with a focus on community and partnership. Jonathan LeVine Projects is located at Mana Contemporary, 888 Newark Ave., a large arts organization that offers gallery space to a number of artists.
