A Burlington County man has been indicted on charges he killed his former employer. Meanwhile, a Bergen County woman is accused of stealing her mother’s death benefits.

The people involved in those incidents are among a group of people either charged with, indicted for, convicted of or sentenced in a wide array of crimes that made news across New Jersey in the past week.

  • A 42-year-old Pemberton man has been indicted for allegedly shooting and killing his former employer in what cops say was supposed to be a robbery. The 49-year-old man was found shot to death in his Tabernacle home by his father.
  • A 46-year-old Moonachie woman was arrested after investigators determined she misappropriated and spent $75,000 in death benefits left by her mother for two other heirs, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said.
  • A brother and sister have been charged with attempted murder, carjacking and robbery in an incident which seriously injured a Paulsboro man. The victim was shot in the chest and robbed of a wristwatch, cell phones and cash, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
  • The 62-year-old former track and field coach at Essex County College was sentenced to three years in prison for using his school-issued debit card to steal more than $75,000 intended to be spent on the track program.
  • A Georgia man could receive a life sentence after being convicted of stabbing an Irvington go-go dancer to death. The 32-year-old was convicted of murder. His 43-year-old co-conspirator previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
  • A 32-year-old man attacked a pastor on a Newark street, police said. The Irvington resident asked the pastor about religious beliefs before striking him, according to authorities.
  • The owner of a Lyndhurst diner is facing theft charges for allegedly buying restaurant supplies on his credit cards and then later reporting the cards stolen. The 46-year-old Paramus man owns Schuyler Diner.
  • A Berardsville man who authorities said assaulted a woman and then tried to use another man as a human shield during a standoff with police was convicted of multiple offenses. The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to making terroristic threats, criminal restraint, aggravated assault and weapons offenses.
