Injury report: Oregon State sophomore forward Tres Tinkle (20.2 ppg, 8.3 rpg) has missed the Beavers’ last 19 games with a broken wrist. Senior center Cheikh N’diaye (3.6 ppg) has been out for 16 games with a shoulder injury. Both will be out Sunday.

Preview: Among the positive surprises in an Oregon State season that has seen few encouraging developments was the first 30 minutes the Beavers played against then-No. 2 UCLA in Corvallis. They lost the late-December matchup but kept up with the up-tempo Bruins, in large part by deliberately slowing the pace. According to Sports Reference, the matchup ended with second-slowest UCLA has played this season.

Ultimately, OSU did not have enough offensive weaponry to hang with the Bruins, who feature potential NBA lottery picks and freshmen sensations Lonzo Ball and TJ Leaf to complement three experienced seniors in Bryce Alford, Isaac Hamilton and Thomas Welsh. They are coming off one of their season’s biggest wins, a 19-point comeback to knock off No. 5 Oregon in Pauley Pavilion.

Meanwhile, Oregon State is coming off a 26-point blowout at USC. The Beavers started strong with a 6-0 lead but struggled again to defend the three-point line and eventually ended the first half missing their last 11 shots.

UCLA struggles defensively but owns the most efficient offense in the nation and has made 41.6 percent of three-pointers in conference play, which ranks second in the Pac-12.

They said it: “We get the fight in spurts. We get it from certain people and then we don’t get it from some people and it switches other games. We just got to get a collective unit and the whole unit has to fight throughout the whole 40 minutes of the game.” – Stephen Thompson Jr.
